8/17 Sermon Recap:

  • Pastor Suzanne talked how knowing what to look for and hope for helps us remain steady throughout our journey.
  • In particular, she talks about how “glory” is our destination. Glory is when we are at peace with God, at peace with ourselves, at peace with others, and at peace with creation.
  • In the meantime, however, we will experience “groaning” like the groans of labor pains.
  • Looking for signposts of glory helps us through the journey as we groan and partnering with the Spirit (who groans with us), gives us the endurance so that we do not give up.

Reflection Questions:

  • Ask someone you love what labor was like for them.
  • How does the metaphor of labor help you understand the Christian life and the hope for the future?
  • What are you groaning about right now?
  • What signposts of glory are you noticing in your life?
  • Who could you reach out to this week to be a picture of God’s spirit, encouraging them not to give up?
