Sermon Recap

  • Jesus models a faithful rhythm of life: He withdraws to grieve, shows compassion to others even in exhaustion, and then returns to God as His source of strength.
  • Compassion doesn’t mean endless availability: Jesus meets needs, but He also sets boundaries — sending the disciples away and dismissing the crowds so He can rest and pray.
  • God multiplies what we offer, even when it feels small: Like the loaves and fish, abundance comes not from having no limitations but from placing what we have in God’s hands.
  • The presence of Jesus brings courage: When He walks on water toward the disciples, He reveals Himself as “I am,” grounding their courage in God’s nearness rather than their own strength.

Sermon Reflection Questions:

  • Where in your life do you need to withdraw and make space for grief, rest, or honesty with God?
  • Are you more likely to overextend or to withdraw completely when you feel stretched — and what might a “third way” of dependence on God look like for you?
  • What feels “stormy” to you right now? Where do you need to experience God’s presence?
